I was reading Sanctuary Magazine recently and then moved on to their website in search of more information. On it, I found a veritable fountain of knowledge about sustainable design and building products. I studied some modules on sustainable design a few years back and it is a topic that I feel strongly about, so I love reading about advances in this area and was excited to learn about chances to take a look inside some sustainably designed homes.
Sustainable House Day: September 7 & 14
This September, over 150 homes across Australia will open their doors to share their green credentials and engage other home owners and builders with ideas on how to incorporate renewable energy, recycling and sustainable practices into their home and everyday life.
I’m really interested to see Esther’s house at Ipswich. Designed by Aardvarc, the home has been awarded as the winner for 2014 Queensland Regional Architecture Awards for Darling Downs/West Moreton House of the Year as well as a gold for the 2013 Ipswich City Council Award for Excellence in Design. That in itself is worth taking a look at!
Jump on to the Facebook page and website for further information and to search the maps for homes in your area.
I’d love to hear if you do visit one of the open homes over the two weekends – let me know what you thought!
