Earlier this year, I wrote about the plight of Brisbane Heritage who were tenaciously trying to save the Bonded Stores, in Margaret Street, from being demolished.
Sadly, despite their hard work and support of passionate Brisbanites, the Council granted approval for the new owners to demolish the buildings.
But the fight did not stop there.
The group has successfully gained the attention of the Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection, who ordered a ‘stop work’ on the demolition of these buildings.
This will allow the Queensland Heritage Council to assess the heritage merit of these buildings, which date back to the early 1900’s.
If you want to help, you can make a submission to the Queensland Heritage Council to include the Bonded Stores on the Heritage Register.
