A while back, I did some ‘before’ shots of Brismod’s new Mid Century home and for those of you who have been waiting patiently with bated breath, I am pleased to present to you, the ‘after’ photos.
Brisbane Home Tour: AF Dawson Residence in Tarragindi
Many of you will know the story behind my lovely friend, Anita (aka Brismod) and the quest for her dream house. If you don’t know the background, you can read more about it on her blog.
Anita and her family have truly settled into life in their new home, making it their own with all of the things that make a home, like artworks, books, rugs, a revolving collection of chairs and tonnes of Lego!
Over the past few months, they have been tending to it gracefully with love and care, to freshen up the home and restore it to it’s former glory. The home has really evolved and feels comfortable, looks stylish and most importantly, the family is really happy to be living under it’s beautiful maple ceiling!
Like any loved family member, the home also has a name. Designed by Peter Heathwood in the 1960’s as a specification house for builder AF Dawson, it’s now known as the AF Dawson residence, which is a fitting tribute to the hands that brought the home to life.
This weekend, the home will be included in the Brisbane Open House weekend and open for viewings to a few lucky ballot winners!
For those who missed out, here is the scoop…
There is a lot that I love about this home.
I love the wide patio and the terrazzo flooring. I love how well everything sits in the space, how considered the layout has been designed.
I love how the light bounces around off the timber and how the most simple of architectural details, like the little shelf next to the bed, help to add layers of character to the home.
What are your thoughts on how the home is looking now the family has settled and shown it some TLC? Please leave a message in the comments below.
As always, a huge thank you to Anita and Jason for sharing their home (and some mind-blowing martini’s!) with me.
