I came across this blog post from Fun and Vj’s late last year and not long after, a lot of these blogs were added to my reading list.
As it turns out, there was another list, so even more blog reading was required – tough, really tough!
There were a few more blogs that I came across so I thought I would compile my own ‘favourites’ list and I hope you enjoy it too.
Huge thanks to Anita from Fun and VJ’s for the original inspiration. Her blog itself, is a minefield of inspiring information and beautiful photos documenting the renovation of their old home.
Brilliant Brisbane home blogs
Some of the Brisbane (and slightly further afield) home and renovation blogs I find fascinating….
This super stylish stylist has a home on the north side of Brisbane that she has renovated with her husband and gorgeous chickens! Stunning photos of their home and vintage caravan abound on this blog. Be warned, you may find yourself wanting to paint everything white, it is so serene…
Hill End Eco House
An eco-friendly house in Hill End, an inner city suburb by the river. There is a great post here and here about how the home fared the 2011 Brisbane floods. Some gorgeous photos from the Architects can also be seen on this site.
The Old Post Office
I love this blog…, 2 rundown Queenslander homes, 11 acres of land west of Brisbane, documenting a family, their renovation and a real tree change. If I had more guts (and could convince my husband), I would totally do this.
A renovation and extension of a bungalow style home in Brisbane, with a few gorgeous crafty projects to boot! I blame this blog for my purchases of vintage Danish wallpaper….!
West End Cottage
A renovation of a workers cottage for a family of 6 in West End, designed by super-amazing-take-my-breath-away Architects Owen, Vokes and Peters. (I’m saving up for a block of land and their Happy Haus)
Crazy house capers
This blog covers the renovations of 2 Brisbane cottages that are next door to each other. Best to start at the beginning to see the before shots, I love seeing the transformations.
Desire to Inspire – Jo’s page
A gorgeous blog full of home, garden and design delights. I especially love Jo’s home and would happily live there, it looks beautiful. Just a short skip west of Brisbane, take a look here.
A House in Auchenflower
A great blog uncovering the history of some of Brisbane’s beautiful old homes. There is also some info on architectural details, windows and door locks specific to old Queenslander homes that may help the renovators out there!
Following the story of a young family renovating their home in inner-city Brisbane. Lots of elbow grease and thrifty shopping goes on in this blog, the results are amazing!
Happy Little Queenslander
A happy little blog, detailing the renovation of a 1930’s Queenslander in Brisbane. I particularly love the before and progress shots, nothing like a good ‘before’ shot to make you see how much you have achieved.
No doubt I will be adding more to this list, if you find something new, let me know!
