There was excitement abounding when I arrived home today to find a lovely parcel waiting for me… and perhaps also for you?!
This is the first competition I have ever run on the blog and I am so pleased to be able to offer such a fantastic prize!
Australian Modern Design book competition
The clever folk at Australian Modern have been working hard to bring this amazing book to all of you design loving creatures.
This book is a stunning compilation of unique Australian design from the mid 20th century detailing architecture, homes, cars, caravans, art, fashion and furniture.
There is a great range of contributors to this book which features a beautiful tribute to Brisbane architect Barry Walduck (designer of the Eisenmenger House) and the super-cool Chater Street home that you may have also seen here on this blog.
My parents had a quick look and happily reminisced at the styles and designs from their younger years and were particularly excited to see the exact model, year and colour of my Grandparent’s old car grace the pages!
I was really excited to read about the ‘House on a pole’ which I saw as a young girl, travelling along the Great Ocean Road with my family. I have been a tragic lover of architecture and design from a very young age!!
The book is an independent publication, proudly designed, printed and produced in Brisbane – how great is that!
And lucky it’s out just in time for Christmas, this book would make a great gift for the design aficionado and don’t forget to grab one for yourself if you subscribe to the ‘one for you, one for me’ school of gift giving!!
You can purchase your copy direct from Australian Modern.
The publishers have been gracious enough to offer a copy of their new book for one of my lucky readers!
All you need to do is leave a comment below, sharing your favourite thing about mid 20th century design and architecture.
It could be a favourite designer, artist, architect, a piece of furniture or a decorative object that makes your heart go boom!
Entries close on Tuesday 10 December at 8pm, so it can be posted to the lucky winner before the Christmas rush!
My trusty and clever Husband (that’s him here in the safety suit) will choose the best response. You will receive a very Limited Edition book, total prize value $80, posted to an Australian address.
